Slovenia once again among the Worlds top 100
In 2024, Slovenia continues to shine on the global stage of sustainable tourism. Six Slovenian destinations have earned a place on the prestigious “Green Destinations Top 100 Stories” list, each recognized for their unique sustainability efforts. The strong presentation of Slovenian destinations among the world’s top 100 underscores Slovenia’s ongoing commitment to being one of the greenest and most sustainable countries. It also strengthens the country’s visibility on the international tourism map, positioning it as a leader in sustainable travel.
Slovenia is making continuous strides on its bold sustainability journey and the annual selection of the world’s top 100 green destinations confirms that this path is the right one. The “Green Destinations Top 100 Stories” list, which regularly includes Slovenian destinations, highlights exceptional examples of sustainable practices that successfully link tourism with the local environment.
This year, six Slovenian destinations have made it to the prestigious list, as announced by Green Destinations on Tuesday:
Bela Krajina: Preserving Nature and Enhancing Quality of Life
In this tranquil region, adorned with the bronze Slovenia Green label, visitors are encouraged to explore outside peak seasons, fostering a deep connection between tourists and the local community while contributing to the preservation of the Kolpa River and its surrounding nature.
Brežice: Celebrating Zero-Waste Certified Festivals
Recognized with the platinum Slovenia Green label, Brežice is leading the way in sustainability by implementing zero-waste certifications for its events. The City Promenade (Mestna promenada) was the first event to achieve this certification.
Jeruzalem: A Dispersed Hotel Among the Vineyards
Nestled among the picturesque wine hills, Jeruzalem, boasting the Slovenia Green Silver Label, offers an authentic experience through its Jeruzalem Slovenia Dispersed Hotel, which connects holiday homes, apartments and guesthouses in the area.
