Brussels is gradually becoming the meeting place for pop culture fans. From Comic Con Brussels to the BIFF, via the Brussels Games Festival, many festivals are being created and are choosing the European capital as the place to bring together fans of the genre.
In March, Brussels will be the capital of pop culture. It undeniably has the offbeat, festive and creative spirit needed for the task. Brussels is full of events, game bars and escape games to delight geeks of all kinds.
Once again this year, the capital offers a series of must-see events for gamers and other cosplayers. Here’s a glimpse of what’s on offer.

OFFSCREEN FILM FESTIVAL 2020 : TIME TRAVEL
Messages from the future, precognition, the Butterfly Effect, the Grandfather Paradox, time loops, multiverses, wormholes… There seems no end to the variations on the time travelling theme. Yet filmmakers were slow to recognise its dramatic potential.
A marginal phenomenon on the big screen before the 80’s, chiefly confined to experimental or arthouse films (“La Jetée”, “Je t’aime, je t’aime”, “Idaho Transfer”). But the floodgates finally opened in the 80s blockbuster era with “The Terminator” (1984) and “Back to the Future” (1985), mainstream entertainment that hit the sweet spot between science and fiction.

CINEMATEK@FLAGEY – ON NE MORD QUE DEUX FOIS
No supernatural creature has been portrayed as frequently in cinema history as the vampire. Bram Stoker’s Dracula, everyone’s favourite bloodsucker, has alone racked up nearly 200 different movie appearances.
Even today, the vampire continues to fascinate, guaranteeing the box office success. They offer compelling stories about the human condition, sexuality, addiction, disease, and mortality. Each century of filmmaking has experienced more than one peak vampire moment, where the lore needed to be recycled into something fresh and new, before totally sucking. It’s appropriate. Just like many of the vampires on this list have to adapt to the times, so do the films themselves.
